This is not a discussion about right and wrong about blocking ads. It is a technical discussion about how to accomplish the subject at hand. This is for Hulu+ a paid service.I'm running Untangle as a router and it is blocking:ads.hulu.comt2.hulu.comll.a.hulu.comlightningcast.comTrying to go to any of these sites spawn a 403 Error. This works on browsers and on my Xbox 360. In fact it's perfect on the xbox, there are no ads and no wait screens, just the show as I want to see it.Here's the problem, My xbox is loud, and uses a lot of power. My TV has Hulu built in, but will not play any content when ads.hulu.com is blocked.I've tried redirecting ads.hulu.com to my server, but that spawns a 404 error.Does anyone know how to block hulu's ads via a router while keeping devices able to play the content. Sounds to me like we have a problem that may not lend itself to a technical solution, at least not an obvious one.

If the service is willing to block access should a given domain prove inaccessible (i.e., the ad network), then you're pretty much stuck. Not unless you can perhaps redirect the service to something else, say something local that appears to be the ad service but does essentially nothing. It can't just be blocked, it has to appear to Hulu to be functioning.Btw, this is why I hate Hulu+. I pay for the service, and yet I still get ads, tons of them. Bad enough I have to deal w/ this on cable, no way I'm buying into more such services.
